styling my sister

DSC_0074
my sister in her natural habitat

I don't think my sister would be offended if I said in a public forum that she is the antithesis of fashion oriented. She's sixteen and exclusively wears her school uniform or crew-neck tee shirts with jeans. When I say exclusively, I mean that in the literal sense.
Once in a while I decide to go through her closet and dress her up though, in the vain hope that someday she'll put on these cute outfits of her own volition.
No luck so far, but we shall see.

Even though the combination generally makes no sense in terms of weather, I love the look of sweaters with shorts. The only time I've found that it's plausible to wear them together is during summer rainstorms, when you're warm but still want to be kept somewhat dry. Luckily, the place my sister goes to summer camp (I'm an alumna) is notoriously drizzly.

Sweater - H&M
Shorts - Abercrombie & Fitch
Sandals - American Eagle

This look is edgier I think. She was dubious about the scarf but I think it makes things more interesting. The tanktop is more pink than orange, but the lighting in her bedroom wasn't great. I convinced her to put on a little dark-tinted Burt's Bees lip balm, which I think made her look very glam. Otherwise, she's wearing no makeup at all. Me = jealous.

Top - H&M
Shorts - Abercrombie & Fitch
Scarf - a gift

This is the kind of thing I think she could wear to a dance. I don't know. I love the color grey on her. You may notice that all of her clothes are from the same three stores... What can I say? She's a creature of habit. Also she doesn't like to shop, so we tend to buy her things from stores where we know her size.

Shirt - Urban Outfitters
Shorts - Abercrombie & Fitch (same as #1)
